Ortho-K lenses are worn every night, but should the patient decide to stop
wearing them, their eyes will return to their original shape and prescription
after just a few days. Therefore being safe and 100% reversible, Ortho-K
provides an excellent alternative to laser eye surgery, which continues to
receive uncertain press coverage following Government investigations and
concern from eye care professionals about its success and questionable
long-term safety.
After the initial treatment the patient’s progress will be monitored with regular assessments. Lenses will need to be replaced every 6 months, when they become less effective
due to the build up of deposits that form naturally on the lens surface, and
from small changes in curvature. The cost of the treatment (which includes all
lenses and aftercare check-ups) is about the same as daily disposable contact
lenses, and is spread over 12 months, on a monthly standing order basis.
